ENCOUNTERS
London, June 2019_
Encounters is a participatory video installation that aims to empower audiences to actively interact with the community they live in and promote social inclusion. It is an invitation to play, explore and feel.
Audiences are assigned a personal space and are encouraged to explore the notion of separation, establish a dialogue with each other using their hands to communicate through the sense of touch and movement. This live interaction is projected into the installation space and accompanied by live music composed while following the hand's movements, which enhances the performative experience.
By getting participants to focus on their hands, we are able to foster empathic behaviour between people who may not share the same cultural background nor have the same physical appearance and therefore promote dialogue between them.
